Kim Richman was born and raised on the east side of Madison. Growing up, Kim’s family lived in the Eastmorland neighborhood and Kim attended MMSD schools. For the last 40 years, Kim has lived with his wife in the Elvehjem neighborhood. Kim is a proud parent of two adult children.
Kim spent a 40 year career in sales, marketing, advertising and merchandising in the beverage and food industry. During his career, Kim learned that customer service and listening to people is the most important thing you can do. Kim was named Salesman of the Year numerous times at his company, and helped coach youth hockey for the Madison Patriots hockey program.
Recently, Kim retired from his career and has been finding other ways to serve his neighbors. Kim now works part-time as a crossing guard and serves as a City of Madison election official.
In his free time, Kim volunteers and gives back in a variety of ways. Kim serves on the board of the Elvehjem Neighborhood Association. Kim is a regular attendee of meetings and forums across Madison, and works hard to understand the needs of residents.
Kim is also a member of the East District Community Policing Advisory Board, which shares concerns, questions, and ideas with Madison Police Department management staff. In this role, Kim amplifies community voices that have traditionally gone unheard, and promotes community trust with our City.
Kim is also the founder of the Buckeye-Grove Good Neighbor Project, where he works collaboratively with his neighbors to build community and enhance public safety.
Kim believes in expanding communication between neighbors and their city government, and is looking forward to representing Madison’s east side on the Common Council.
